Creative Rex Institute of Arts — CRIA — is Mumbai’s personal coaching institute for design, architecture and fashion entrance exams. We prepare students for NID, NIFT, UCEED, NATA, MH-AAC-CET and government drawing grade exams.
We have been doing this for 15 years. In that time we have placed students in NID Ahmedabad, NIFT Mumbai, IIT Bombay, Sir J.J. College of Architecture, MIT Institute of Design, UID Ahmedabad, Pearl Academy and more — with small batches, individual feedback and a curriculum refined over hundreds of student journeys.

Creative Rex was founded in 2010 with one belief: that students across Mumbai and Maharashtra deserve serious, structured design entrance coaching with real individual attention — not just a seat in a large batch. The talent has always been here. What was missing was a focused institute that understood both the exams and the students deeply enough to get consistent results.
Small batches. Individual attention. A curriculum built from scratch for each exam. College visits. Industry seminars. Honest counselling that put the student’s interests first, even when that meant telling a family that a different exam or a different timeline would serve them better.
Students got into NID, NIFT, IIT, J.J. College of Architecture, Rachana Sansad and more. Word spread. Families came from further away. The institute grew entirely through results, not advertising.
Like every educational institution, Creative Rex paused. For two years the batches stopped, the classrooms went quiet and the momentum we had built was put on hold. We watched. We waited. We planned.
And we are expanding across Mumbai. Creative Rex is restarting with everything we learned in 15 years and a larger ambition. We are opening centres across Mumbai. The model that worked — personal attention, small batches, honest guidance — travels. We are taking it with us.

Every student gets individual feedback, individual clarity on their weaknesses and individual mentorship through every stage. When a Creative Rex student walks into an exam they have been specifically prepared — not generically processed.
We do not guarantee selection. No honest coaching institute should. What we guarantee is structured preparation, genuine feedback and advice that puts the student’s interests first — even when that means recommending a different exam or a longer timeline. Before we practise we make sure the student understands. Understanding why a design composition works, why a perspective looks right, why an aptitude question is answered a certain way — that understanding is what makes improvement stick.
Entrance exams are timed. Students who practise under time pressure are not surprised by it in the exam. We run time-based exercises regularly so students are comfortable with pace before they sit the actual paper.
Every drawing submission, every mock test and every assignment is reviewed individually. Generic feedback given to a batch of twenty students helps no one specifically. We give each student specific feedback on their specific work.
Our mock tests are designed to replicate the format, difficulty and time pressure of each actual entrance exam. Students who have done our mocks consistently report that the real exam felt familiar.
We take students to NID, NIFT, architecture colleges and design institutes so they see the colleges they are working towards. Meeting faculty and walking the campus is motivating in a way no classroom conversation replicates.
For exams that include portfolio review and interviews, we do not treat this as an afterthought. Portfolio guidance, mock interviews and storytelling exercises are built into the program from early on.
We organise visits to design, architecture and fashion colleges so students can experience the campus, interact with current students and faculty and make an informed decision about which college and program is right for them. Students who have visited NID, NIFT or J.J. College make better application decisions and are more motivated during preparation.
We invite design and architecture professionals to speak to our students about their careers, their creative process and the design industry. These sessions give students a real sense of what life after college looks like.
