About the exam
What is UCEED — and why does it matter?
Most students in India know IIT for engineering. What fewer people know is that IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIITDM Jabalpur all offer a Bachelor of Design program, and the entrance exam for it is UCEED.
UCEED is conducted by IIT Bombay every year, typically in January. The exam tests design aptitude, visualisation, observation, analytical reasoning, environmental awareness and creative drawing ability. It does not test engineering or maths at a difficult level. It tests how you see, how you think and how you communicate visually.
The exam is 3 hours long and has two parts. Part A is a computer-based objective test (NAT, MSQ, MCQ) covering visualisation and spatial ability, observation and design sensitivity, environmental awareness, analytical reasoning, language and creativity, and design aptitude. Part B is a drawing test on paper, evaluated manually by IIT design faculty.
Both parts are mandatory. A student must clear the Part A cutoff to have their Part B evaluated. UCEED allows only two attempts total.

Eligibility
Who can join our UCEED coaching program?
- Students in 11th grade from any stream targeting IIT design.
- Students in 12th grade from any stream preparing for the upcoming UCEED cycle.
- Gap year students appearing for UCEED.
- For IIT Bombay B.Des, Science, Commerce and Humanities are all eligible.
A critical note: UCEED allows only TWO attempts total — the year you pass Class 12 and the year immediately after. Plan accordingly and start early.
No prior drawing experience is needed.

IIT design graduates are recruited by Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, Samsung, Flipkart, Ather Energy, Navi, CRED, McKinsey Design and many product-first startups.
Roles include UX Designer, Product Designer, UI Specialist, Creative Technologist and Design Strategist.
IIT design is one of the few career paths in India where you get both the security of an IIT degree and the freedom of a creative profession.
